Blue Zig Zag

In response to Friday Fictioneers and the following photo prompt by Marie Gail Stratford in 100 words.

They stared at the blank monitor-wall.

“Computer..” said Jesse.

Nothing happened.

“Maybe it doesn’t sense English. After all, this facility is 50 years old.”

“Don’t be silly! English has been Globalspeak for longer than that.”

“Has it got a name? Maybe it’s a sort of password.”

“Then we’re finished. We are the last two left. I can’t believe there is limitless knowledge available and limitless resources and we can’t access it.”

“What if….if it’s an obsolete touch screen?”

They stared at each other then rushed forward to touch it.

Still nothing.

“I give up.”

“What’s that blue zig zag thing?”

Hehe, this reminds me of an old Startrek film, where Scotty takes the mouse and talks into it. A hilight for all Mac fans… Fun story, obsolete technology is very real. Who can still access zip and Jazz drives?

I almost went this direction. I was going to write a story about when the mouse will be extinct. Great job! I think it’s only a matter of time when people won’t even remember it. They’ll ask “What was it called again?”
